If you want to indulge is some serious Southern cuisine, Pages Okra Grill is the place to do it. The generous portion was perfectly executed, hot and fresh. Crazy!!!! My companion opted for one of the benedicts, and was also beyond pleased with her meal. The serving was enormous and only cost $6. Somehow all of the components worked in harmony and created a burst of flavor and texture. I had no idea what to expect, but I was so so glad I ordered it when I took my first bite. I wanted to try something different so I ordered T.J.'s hot mess - two southern fried chicken breasts topped with scrambled eggs, jalapenos, pepperjack cheese and sausage gravy all served on a buttermilk biscuit. Besides the regular options like Omelets, French toast, pancakes and waffles there were plates that incorporated items like crab cakes, chicken livers, salmon, flounder, shrimp, steak, pimento cheese, fried green tomatoes. We had never seen such variety and creativity on a menu. The breakfast/brunch selections were endless. Folks if you can't find something to tempt your palate here, then you must not like to eat. We had plenty of time to peruse the menu while we waited for a table. What's the benefit in trying to turn away customers? We were just bewildered. We even overheard her telling customers that the wait was now two hours, which was clearly a lie, as the crowd had diminished significantly. Hey, the least the Okra Grill could do is hire someone who appreciates her job and wants to engage with customers in a friendly and patient manner. We decided to stick it out and glad we did, but we had the misfortune of settling in near one of the hostess stands, and thus were privy to her poor attitude and flippant language. So it was no surprise that on a weekend upon our arrival we learned there would be an hour and a half wait. Others behind us had about a 5-10 min wait though.Obviously this place is extremely popular with locals and tourists alike and brunch seems to be an institution in the Charleston area. We went on a Thursday at 6:15 and were seated straight to a table. Restaurant is decently large with outdoor seating, but apparently there is typically a longer wait for a table on weekends and busier nights like over the summer. If you're a tourist like us, add the Okra Grill to your must-eat list! You won't regret it. Locals apparently frequent this place to much. Maxie from Advocate Collection by Francis and Benedict. Page’s Okra Grill: Sarah Bodkin is wearing the Katie C. She was so helpful and considerate helping my family pick out their entrees, and offered taste tasting of sauces too. Page’s Okra Grill: Shrimp ‘n’ Grits Perfect for breakfast, lunch or dinner, Page’s Okra Grill serves up mouthwatering shrimp ‘n’ grits all day long with fried cheddar grits, pan-seared shrimp and a velvety-smoked andouille cream sauce. Our server was very pleasant and personable. My family loved all of their meals which doesn't happen often. Follow that with Page’s Famous Chicken & Waffle (loaded with Cheddar cheese, sage sausage, roasted corn, and jalapeos) or Ashleigh’s Shrimp & Grits (the grits take shape as fried Cheddar. Not my favorite style, but overall the dish was good!). (Although heads up.the grits are actually grit cakes. I had the shrimp and grits which I also loved. The pimento cheese was really good too! My family loved the fried tomatoes appetizer. The food was all fresh, and the shrimp is local within 50 miles of the Charleston coast. This place rocks! Prices were the best prices we've seen in all of Charleston for a nice, local restaurant. Page's came highly recommended to us, so we tried it.
